Spontaneous swimming...

My 50's list only has 40 things on it, but I expect it will have way more than 50 by the end of my 50th year. The reason I believe this is because I have been having so much fun since I had my birthday. I seem to be continually involved with more invites for fun or things I haven't done since I was a child... like rolling down a grassy hill or swimming in the lake with my clothes on. Now that is a funny story!

We originally were going to the store to pick up cabbage and it was such a lovely day, we decided to go for a walk in a park, and yes, then I could update the list. We hiked down the hill at St. Edwards park to the water and the water looked so lovely, we decided to put our feet in. Well... then my friend was tempted (or dared) to swim in his jeans. Hmm... and I was contemplating the idea, but in white pants I was a tad bit concerned of what the view would be when I exited the water. But the water called and the idea of swimming without a wetsuit was just too much of a temptation. As I was paddling around in waist deep water, it was kindly pointed out that I was a bit lost without a destination... like a buoy... to swim to. It was also a surprise to swim without goggles or a cap to keep the hair out of my face. I never noticed this being a problem as a child, but alas, I've been in training mode.

So this was fun and not on the list and not involved with the training schedule... just spontaneous. So maybe that's the word I need to add to the list...SPONTANEOUS!

Today's the day...

First day of the blog and a note about my journey... I'm doing this blog with the thought of having a place to put some thoughts and share my 50's list. Ok... to those who don't know yet, I'm formulating a list of 50 adventures or things I want to do during the year I'm 50. I still have to figure out how to post that list, so stay tuned.

And this is also a place to post random thoughts about my 50th year, what I'm doing and how I'm working on being a healthier and more fit person who has just entered the arena of life where the kids are grown and I have more time to do things like workout or blog or...

And ...a quick review of my training today. Training for what.... ?
I am training for the Danskin Triathlon which takes place on August 15, so I have just a little less than one month to get my A_ _,  amongst other things, ready.  The Tri is a 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile run.

Today's training was 1/4 mile swim to the buoy and back and then 6 mile bike round trip to I-90.  Noelle and I stopped on the way back to check out I-90, which is where most of the bike portion of the race takes place.

Enough for now.
